So, one of the romance review sites did a similar poll and it made me curious. Is it representative of the majority of book buyers? I know most of my flist are avid readers, so I thought I'd pose the same question to you.

My item that convinces me to look at a book that is not mentioned in your poll is that an interesting/intriguing title is a big deal for me.

you know, I was going to put Title, because usually that's what drives me and I forgot. Thanks for the input!

No worries.

My book buying tends to have a higherarchy of buying likelihood:
~If it is a series that I'm reading and from reading the blurb I either a) suspect that I will want to reread the book or b)can't wait for it to be available in the library then I'm very likely to buy it.
~If it is an author that I've *really* liked before especially if either a or b from the above apply.
~If something in the title catches my eye and if either a or b from the above apply.
~If it is hardcover I have to really crave it.

I suppose it comes down to a mix of speed of gratification, expected gratification, how hard will this be to find again, how often/long I'd need it, plus cost (library=free and paperback is cheaper then hardcover by a lot)
